ContentLIBRE is described by its owner as Apache 2.0 licensed. The license permits use in commercial and proprietary work, while retaining applicable license and attribution obligations. The public repository and its release-level LICENSE and NOTICE files still need to be confirmed when source publication is complete.
When redistributing, include the license, retain required notices, identify changed files and preserve applicable NOTICE attributions. Apache 2.0 does not grant general trademark rights and includes a disclaimer of warranty. This is a practical summary, not legal advice for a particular distribution.
A few useful answers.
Does open source mean no costs?
No. The license does not make hosting, implementation, maintenance or support cost-free. Plan for those responsibilities as part of your deployment.
Can we keep our own modifications private?
Apache 2.0 does not generally require you to publish your modifications. Distribution brings license and notice obligations; assess your specific use and dependencies.
Does “no vendor lock-in” mean instant migration?
No. It describes the freedom to inspect, adapt and fork the code. Integrations, content models and operational knowledge still create real migration work.
Where will the source be?
The owner’s intended organization is github.com/ContentLIBRE. A public repository, release URL and contribution workflow are not yet confirmed. The project page keeps that distinction visible.
